For a while now, I’ve had some Drupal resources ready for campus, but did not publicize them while i was testing it with a few select people. But, enough of that secrecy….there are resources that might benefit some of you out there already.
If you’d like to get your hands on some of the resources (modules, themes, features), visit http://drupal.ncsu.edu and click on Downloads.
The more exciting news is that we’re also working on an environment for folks to be able to quickly deploy a new Drupal site. That information is also on drupal.ncsu.edu. While I can’t take on too many requests at the moment, I know there are people out there who would benefit from this service. We have 4 or 5 sites deployed already, and i have room for a handful more (before i take a step back to monitor the load on the hosting server). Some of the built-in highlights include: WRAP Auth, customizable theme, mobile-friendly (not responsive yet) & accessible theme, featured content slider, photo gallery feature, contact forms, rss, google calendar integration and automated backups.
To borrow a phrase from Jen’s WordPress announcement: “We’re not exactly shouting this from the rooftops yet,” but we’re definitely ready to move this forward.
So if you, or someone you know, needs a website, have them check out http://drupal.ncsu.edu, read the information there and see if it’s the right fit. Combined with our efforts with WordPress, I think these two platforms will help to improve the standard of websites here at NC State in a pretty efficient way.
