Updating GetOnTheWeb.ncsu.edu

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for OIT Design, and there are a lot of in-progress projects that we’ll be discussing more in this space soon. In the meantime, here’s a quick update on one of our on-going support services: getontheweb.ncsu.edu.

Get On The Web is the front door to web services at NC State—the starting point for anyone in the NC State community looking to build a new website. Serving both campus web developers and communications staff, Get On The Web bridges the gap between “I think we need a website for this” and getting a quality, accessible, secure, and branded NC State website online.

GOTW is a project of OIT’s Web Services Team, in consultation with University Communications, DELTA, and college-level IT staff. This week, OIT Design staff took some time to update and upgrade Get On The Web to reflect service changes and help the campus web community find the resources they need to build better websites.

These upgrades include an improved GetOnTheWeb service wizard, which asks you a series of questions to match you up with the campus web service that makes the most sense for you. In addition to matching you up with the appropriate web service, we also help campus users map out next steps for requesting a university domain, adhering to campus branding requirements, and making sure their website is PCI compliant.

The refreshed homepage also features easy access to reference guides on accessibility, security, content best practices, and more.

If there’s information not currently on Get On The Web that you’d like to see included or updated, please let us know!
