Greetings from OIT Design! We hope you’ve had a chance to relax and grab some sunshine between the spring semester and starting on that list of things you were going to get done “as soon as the semester is over”. We had a busy spring with several new client sites and even more work going on behind the scenes. We’ve just got a couple of updates to tell you about and THEN ONE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.
WordCamp Raleigh was held on centennial campus April 22-23 and was a big success. OIT Design had several representatives in attendance and Brian revived his wildly popular talk on NC State’s Shortcake Powered Design Strategy. We hope to see you next year at WordCamp Raleigh 2018!
WordPress 4.8 and Internet Explorer
WordPress version 4.8 is in development and expected later this year. Please note that with this update, WordPress will no longer support Internet Explorer 10 or earlier. This won’t impact the front-end, customer-facing side of your website, but it will impact you if you use Internet Explorer 10 or older to edit the content on your website.
Microsoft discontinued support for these versions in January of 2016 (which means they no longer get security updates) and now WordPress has followed suit. Our analytics show that this represents a very small portion of the campus community. But if this will affect you, now is a great time to update! If you have any questions feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Farewell, Fiscal Year
As you are all aware, the end of the fiscal year is coming up soon. Although we will be continuing to work on the many ongoing development and maintenance projects we already having going, we will not be accepting any new contracts until after the start of the new fiscal year (July 1).
It’s never to early to start thinking about work you’d like to accomplish in the coming fiscal year and we encourage you to get in touch early (and often).
A Star is Born
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that Jen gave birth to Katherine Mae Mcfarland early this morning. Both mother and child are doing wonderful and we wish them the best (Cam too!).
As you can imagine, Jen will be out for the summer so please make sure to send all official requests, questions etc to email@example.com so our team can get back with you as soon as possible.
