Who’s excited for GutenNews?
If you haven’t seen them yet, blocks are the hot new thing in WordPress. The Block Editor (sometimes called Gutenberg) lets you edit your posts and pages using “blocks.” They can be elements like text, images, headings, callouts, links, or something more complex. If you can dream it, you can block it.
Over the last several months, OIT Design & Web Services has spearheaded a project to build a library of campus-branded blocks for the new editor. We’re proud and incredibly excited to announce that NC State Blocks version 1.0 is now available for campus!
The NC State Blocks plugin is…
- Free to campus
- Theme-agnostic (works with any WP 5.0-friendly theme)
- Pretty darn fun to use!
We’ll be holding an open “show and tell” event on Thursday, April 4 from 1pm to 4pm in Talley Student Union room 3221.
Feel free to drop by any time! Watch a guided tour of the new blocks, or bring your laptop for hands-on experience in a demo environment. Our team will be there to answer questions, make terrible block-based puns, and chat about the future of WordPress!
If you can’t make it to the show and tell event, feel free to drop by our Friday morning office hours any time as well.
